PT FAQs Expand all
Am I eligible for Personal Training?
Personal Training will be available to all MOVE members on our MOVE Bronze, MOVE Silver, MOVE Gold, MOVE Teens and MOVE Health Club memberships, regardless of whether you are on a standard or concession rate.
Can I bring a friend to train with me?
Personal training is a 1-on-1 session. If your friend would like to train with you, they will also need to pay for a session as well, but always check with your trainer first.
Do I need medical clearance for personal training?
If you have existing health conditions or mobility issues, we strongly suggest that you speak to your GP before undertaking any type of physical activity. If you have a history of heart disease, cardiorespiratory issues (eg asthma), arthritis, or other mobility restrictions, please speak to your GP / medical specialist to ascertain what physical limitations need to be observed. If you have been given a rehab / prehab program by a physiotherapist, orthopaedic surgeon, please bring this with you on your first visit.
How do I manage my PT sessions?
You will be able to manage your own sessions via Active World, your Personal Trainer will also be able to assist you in any rescheduling.
I already have a personal trainer somewhere else, can they train me at KELC / AVLC?
Unfortunately, we don’t allow external trainers to train their clients in our facilities.
I want to do personal training, but I can't find an available trainer. What do I do?
We have limited trainers at the moment, so in the event that you can’t find an available trainer, contact our Health Club Manager kelcinfo@movemv.com.au and they can work with you to find a solution.
I'm a new member, do I need to sign up for personal training?
Absolutely not! Personal Training is available to those who would like specific / individual attention as part of their fitness journey.
I've never done Personal Training before - what do I need to bring?
Make sure that you wear clothing that you feel comfortable to exercise in, as well as a drink bottle and a sweat towel.
What can I expect in my first session?
In your first session, you’ll sit down with your trainer, and they’ll go through a series of questions to identify what your fitness goals are, and work out what exercises you should be doing. You may / will have your measurements taken, and get weighed so that they have data to compare to as you progress.
What do I do if I can't make my next PT session?
You’ll need to make sure that you cancel / reschedule your session within 24hrs. If you can’t cancel / reschedule within this timeframe, you’ll forfeit your session (if you have a multi-pack) or you’ll need to pay for an additional session if you’re paying for individual sessions.
What do I do if I don't like my trainer?
We understand that sometimes personalities can clash, and that’s perfectly normal. If you find that you aren’t getting along with your trainer, you can have a chat to our Health Club Manager, and we can find an alternate trainer for you.
What happens after my initial 3 sessions?
You’ll have your workout program that you can continue with on your own, or you’ll have the option to book regular sessions. Once your 3 initial sessions are completed, you’ll be able to book additional sessions with your trainer. Alternatively, you'll be able to purchase 10x and 25x sessions packs either directly through Active World or with one of our team at Reception on your next visit.
What is the difference between personal training and a BEGIN program?
The BEGIN program is more of an induction process to get new members familiar with the gym floor / health club and venue overall. You can develop an initial training program as part of your BEGIN sessions, which include a check-in and a follow-up. Personal Training is specifically focused on a health and fitness goal. If you’ve already received a program via your BEGIN appointment, you can show this to your trainer to further enhance it, otherwise your PT can start a brand new program for you. As part of your PT sessions, you’ll be given specific exercises, and you’ll get shown detailed and correct technique to ensure that you’re executing all the moves correctly with proper alignment / posture.
Will my before / after photos be shared on social media / website?
Absolutely not! Your photos and measurements remain completely confidential between yourself and your trainer. There will be options to participate in ‘Results Day’, however this is completely optional, and not a requirement at all. You will never be pressured or forced to share before / after photos unless you choose to.
